JASPER, Texas — A 30-year-old Jasper man has been arrested in connection with a dog attack that seriously injured a postal worker.
Jasper County deputies arrested Jordan Cormier, 30, of Jasper, Thursday, May 2, 2024, on a third degree felony charge related to the March 2024 dog attack that injured Tamara Hartford, of Spurger, according to a news release from the Jasper County Sheriff's Office.

Cormier was charged with "attack by dog resulting in serious bodily injury," according to the release.
Hartford was sent to a Houston hospital for treatment and has since been released following multiple surgeries.
Cormier was also charged with three misdemeanor charges of cruelty to non-livestock animals after investigators found two dogs and a pig that were being kept in "deplorable conditions" the release said.
He is being held in the Jasper County Jail where his bond was set at $522,500 on all four charges by Jasper County Precinct Four Justice of the Peace Gina Cleveland.

An off-duty Jasper County deputy was credited with saving her life after hearing her screams at about 11 a.m. Tuesday morning, March 19, 2024, while he was at his home.
The deputy, Daniel Coons, ran towards the shouting and found Hartford on the ground being attacked by two dogs near the 300 block of County Road 110A, according to a previous news release from the Jasper County Sheriff's Office.
Coons shot one of the dogs and, when the other dog charged at him, he shot the other dog. Both of the dogs were killed.
The deputy was able to apply a tourniquet to Hartford's right arm and bandage her leg.
She was taken by ambulance to Jasper Memorial Hospital and then flown to a Houston hospital, according to the sheriff's office.
“I am proud of Deputy Daniel Coons for acting quickly and tactfully to save this woman’s life. I hate to think what the outcome would’ve been had he not been in the right place at the right time. Ours prayers are with her as she recovers," said Sheriff Mitchel Newman.
